How to Write Scripts for YouTube Videos

articles Jan 16, 2023

Writing scripts for your YouTube videos is one of the most challenging aspects of content creation. Today I will introduce you to the H.E.A.R. Framework we use and teach within Awesome Creator Academy.

This is a way to ensure your YouTube videos are interesting and fun to watch and that people will want to keep watching them!

H.E.A.R Framework:

  1. Hook: Begin your video with a captivating hook that will make viewers want to continue watching. This could be a question, a surprising statement, or a visually striking image. The goal is to create interest and engagement right from the start.

  2. Engage: Use storytelling techniques to keep viewers interested and invested in your video. This includes creating a narrative arc, character development, and building tension and suspense.

  3. Action: Include clear and specific calls to action throughout the video. This could be asking viewers to like and subscribe to your channel, to leave a comment, or to check out a related video or website. The goal is to give viewers a clear next step after watching your video.

  4. Retention: Ensure that your video is well-produced and easy to watch. This includes using good lighting, sound, and editing to create a polished final product. Additionally, ensure that your video is the right length for the content you're presenting and that it doesn't drag on.

First, let's talk about the "Hook." This is the beginning of your video, and it's super important because it's what makes people want to keep watching. You want to start your video with something that's really cool or interesting, like a question, a surprising statement, or a really cool picture. The goal is to make people curious and want to know more.

Next, we have "Engage." This is where you use storytelling techniques to make people want to keep watching your video. Think of it like a book or a movie. You want to make sure there's a story and that people are interested in what's happening. You can do this by making sure there's a beginning, middle, and end and by creating characters that people can relate to.

Third, we have "Action." This is where you tell people what you want them to do after watching your video. Maybe you want them to like and subscribe to your channel, or maybe you want them to leave a comment. Whatever it is, make sure you tell people what to do and make it easy for them to do it.

Finally, we have "Retention." This is all about ensuring your video is easy to watch and doesn't drag on. You want to make sure the lighting is good, the sound is good, and the video is the right length. It's also important to make sure the video is edited well so that it's easy to watch.

So there you have it! The H.E.A.R Framework is a great way to ensure your videos on YouTube are interesting and fun to watch and that people will want to keep watching them. Remember to start with a cool hook, make sure there's a story and people are engaged, tell people what you want them to do, and make sure the video is easy to watch. And always remember to have fun and enjoy creating your videos!
